Russia sees railway container transit at 1.66 mln TEUs in 2024
MOSCOW, Jul 1 (PRIME) -- The Transport Ministry expects Russia’s railway container transit to grow to 1.656 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in 2024 from 1.114 million TEUs in 2022, the ministry said in a report for 2021 that included the goals for 2022–2024.
In 2021, Russian Railways’ container transit hit a record of 1.116 million TEUs. Deputy CEO Alexei Shilo said in late January that the company expected transit to hit 4 million TEUs in 2027, but much depends on investment in border crossing terminals with the neighboring countries.
